Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival

The Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival is one of Dumbleyung’s longest-running community celebrations, bringing locals and visitors together for a day of family entertainment, local food, markets and country hospitality. Its history stretches back more than 80 years, with the former Bluebird Festival reported as entering its 78th year in 2016. That year, the event was revitalised and renamed the Taste of Dumbleyung, with a greater focus on showcasing local produce, food and regional experiences. Following a five-year break, the event returned in 2024 under the Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival name, reconnecting the celebration with one of Dumbleyung’s most recognisable stories and identities.

The festival is proudly delivered by the Dumbleyung Events Committee (DEC), a volunteer-run community group supported by local volunteers, businesses, organisations and sponsors. Over the years, the festival has evolved while retaining the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that has made it a much-loved event. Festival programs generally feature live music and entertainment, market and food stalls, free children’s rides and activities, showbags, a fashion parade, local displays and attractions, with plenty of opportunities to catch up with friends, support local businesses and enjoy an afternoon in the heart of Dumbleyung. The 2024 event attracted more than 800 people, demonstrating the continued popularity of the celebration following its return.

Today, the Bluebird Festival continues to celebrate community spirit, local talent and everything that makes Dumbleyung unique, while also providing a reason for visitors from across the Wheatbelt and beyond to discover the town.
