The iconic Dumbleyung Bluebird entry sign is on the move! 🚜

To celebrate and better connect with our rich local history, the Shire of Dumbleyung is relocating the Bluebird sign from its current home in town to a new, more prominent spot along Kersley Drive near Lake Dumbleyung — the perfect place that tells the story of Donald Campbell’s world water speed record in 1964.

Why move the sign?

With Dumbleyung recently unveiling a brand-new entry statement sign, the beloved Bluebird sign will still have a home in our town — and what better place than by the lake itself? 🌊

The relocation will bring the Bluebird closer to where the legend unfolded. By positioning the sign near Lake Dumbleyung, visitors will be greeted with a stronger sense of our historical and tourism significance, creating a gateway that celebrates local identity and honours Donald Campbell’s daring world water speed record achieved right here in 1964.

What’s happening and when

Phase 1 of the project focuses on the safe transport and reinstallation of the Bluebird entry sign, ensuring it remains structurally sound while gaining a fresh new setting.

• ✅ Planning and design: Completed in 2025, including site assessments and digital mock-ups.

• 🛠️ Fabrication and installation: Custom leg extensions and supports are being prepared over summer.

• 📍 Relocation: Scheduled for February 2026, with the Bluebird sign to be securely installed at its new home.
